Me to We

"Me to We" by Alan Nelson is another awesome book that I'm reading right now. This book addresses what I believe is the number one problem in most churches in America...leadership that is uninformed by a biblical model of ministry! Many people conclude that the reason churches get stuck is because something is wrong with the pastor or the people...ei. the pastor is a poor communicator, the people are lazy, etc. In "Me to We" Nelson explodes this myth by telling the story of a pastor working through a paradigm shift from a traditional (and actually non-biblical) style of leadership to the biblical pattern where the pastor is the equipper, training and developer rather than the professional doer of everything ministry. Having a church that functions well and doesn't kill the pastor is not a matter of money or even a matter of having the right professional staff. If you are ready to shift from running around trying to do it all to working with a motivated team of disciples to reach your community, get this book, read it and apply it!

Steve, thanks for the recommend. Obviously, i agree with you that the single biggest thing holding back churches is pastor-centric ministry. What a great idea for planters to begin equipping churches from the ground up.
